A summer job, an internship or getting to know working life?
We work together with educational institutions and offer students opportunities, for example, to get to know working life or to do an internship or a thesis. 

We want to offer more and better summer job experiences to young people. The participating companies are committed to the principles of responsible summer jobs. These include a good applicant experience, meaningful work, orientation and guidance, fairness and equality, reasonable pay, and a written employment contract and certificate.

We participate in many recruitment and educational events in the spring and autumn. Come and meet us, we will be happy to tell you more about us and answer your questions!

We offer many summer jobs every summer


We offer about twenty summer jobs every summer, spread across our different departments. For example, there are assembly jobs in production, production planning jobs, warehouse jobs, as well as a variety of office jobs – outlet sales, marketing, delivery supervision, purchasing and export, kitchen design and product management. Our summer jobs are open for applications in early spring, and the summer job season takes place from May to the end of August. Summer employees always receive a common orientation session and after the summer job season, Oikotie annually conducts a survey about their summer work experiences, which helps us continuously develop the way we do things.

We provide all necessary information in our job advertisements and keep applicants informed about the different stages of the recruitment process. We offer meaningful tasks that support employee development. We discuss the goals/expectations as soon as the employment relationship begins. We make sure that the summer employees get a good introduction to their work tasks, we guide them in their work and give feedback on it. We include summer employees as part of the working community and treat them fairly and equally. We pay wages according to the collective agreement. We make a written employment contract with all summer employees. At the end of the employment relationship, we issue a work certificate.

From summer employee to supervisor

Current production supervisor Anna-Kaisa Koskela started at Metos as a summer employee in production planning in May 2017. Here is her description of the experience: 


"I started at Metos in May 2017 in planning. During the summer job, my favorite aspects were the variability of the work and problem solving, the fact that no two days were the same. In addition, my coworkers were nice and helpful, so I wasn't afraid to ask for advice. 

During the school semesters, I wanted to work, and Metos offered me a great opportunity to do that, so after the summer job, I worked once a week while studying. I was able to progress in my studies, and at the same time do some work that supported my studies and helped me understand what opportunities the education offers. Metos also offered me a topic for my thesis, which made the choice easier.  

In June 2018, I got a permanent position in planning, and in 2022 I started as a supervisor. In between, I've also been on maternity leave twice. 

As a company, Metos has a lot of history and its own traditions. I feel that if you have a good sense of humor and a positive attitude, you'll definitely do well at Metos! Metos is a versatile workplace that offers the opportunity to develop multiple skills and yourself in general. If you are looking for a possibly long-term employment relationship, during which you can get further education, develop skills and learn problem solving, then I can recommend a summer job at Metos.
